Fujifilm X-Pro 1

Fujifilm’s X-Pro 1 may be the worst kept secret we’ve ever come across in the photography world — with a veritable Wikileaks worth of details flooding the web long before today’s official announcement. We’re still pleased as punch, however, to finally shell out the official details surrounding the magnesium-alloy wrapped retro beauty. In many ways, its the interchangeable lens version of the lust worthy X100 you’ve been wanting it to be.

A 16-megapixel APS-C X-Trans sensor and Fujifilm’s own EXR processor are at its core, along with a new iteration of the optical/electronic hybrid viewfinder that caused such a stir in the X100. The brand new lens “x-mount” is clearly the star of the spec party, though, which will be able to connect three new XF FUJINON fast aperture prime lenses including the XF188mmF2 R (a f/2.0 f/2.0 pancake), XF35mmF1.4 35mm (a 53mm f/1.4 lens), and XF60mmF2.4 (a R Macro 90mm f/2.4 macro lens), for plenty of shooting versatility. Nine more lenses are also scheduled for release over the course of the next three years. The camera can shoot 1080p video too and more importantly, Fuji has promised it will be available starting in February — though if the X100 launch is any indicator, you may have better luck locating Atlantis during the first few months. Pricing still hasn’t been exactly pinned down, but Fuji said it expects the body to cost around $1,700, with the lenses going for $650 each. Start saving now.
